About this website

This website is operated by Headline Consulting, the advisory practice founded by Sir Michael Wilshaw. It describes our mentoring and advisory work with school and trust leaders, tells Sir Michael's story, collects press coverage and lets you get in touch. By using the website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Our services and this website

The Mentoring pages describe the kinds of support we offer, including one-to-one mentoring, and whole or half-day sessions for CEOs, principals, headteachers, senior leaders and middle leaders. This is a general description only. It is not an offer capable of acceptance, and the scope, format, dates and fees of any engagement are agreed separately in writing.

The content here is general information. It is not professional, legal or regulatory advice, and it should not replace advice tailored to your school or trust.

Independence from Ofsted and government

Sir Michael Wilshaw is a former HM Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills and former Head of Ofsted. Headline Consulting is an independent private practice. It is not part of, endorsed by, or acting for Ofsted, the Department for Education or any other public body, and nothing on this website is official inspection guidance.

Our mentoring is designed to help leaders prepare well, but we cannot and do not promise any particular inspection judgement, grade or school improvement result.

Enquiries, briefings and consultations

Sending an enquiry or requesting a briefing or consultation through this website does not create a contract or a client relationship, and it does not oblige either party to proceed. We aim to reply promptly but cannot guarantee a response time or that we will be able to take on every request.

Please do not include sensitive personal information, or information that identifies individual pupils or staff, in your message. We handle the details you send us as described in our Privacy Policy.

Testimonials and quotations

The Mentoring and About pages include comments from leaders who have worked with Sir Michael. They reflect those individuals' own experiences and opinions, are shared with the intention of being accurate, and are not a guarantee that you will have the same experience or achieve the same results.

Press and media coverage

The Media & Press page links to articles, interviews and speeches published by third parties such as newspapers, trade titles and government websites. We include headlines and short descriptions for reference only. The full articles, and the copyright in them, belong to their publishers and authors, and we do not control or endorse their content or keep their pages online.

If you are a publisher or rights holder and would like an item corrected or removed, email us at the address below and we will respond promptly.

Name, image and endorsement

You may not use the name, image, quotations or professional title of Sir Michael Wilshaw, or the Headline Consulting name and logo, in a way that suggests that he or we endorse, sponsor or are associated with you, your school, your product or your service, without our prior written permission.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse the website. In particular, you must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or its systems, introduce malicious code, scrape it or overload it with automated requests, try to bypass the spam protection or rate limits on the enquiry forms, or use the forms to send spam, unlawful or misleading content, or to impersonate someone else.

Intellectual property

The original content of this website, including the text, design, graphics and logo, belongs to Headline Consulting or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may view it and print extracts for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or distribute it more widely without our prior written permission.

Cookies and privacy

We use only essential cookies and similar technologies, plus a first-party cookie that remembers your cookie choice. You can change that choice at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information and what cookies the site sets.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to articles, profiles and other material on third-party websites, including LinkedIn. We provide these links for convenience and are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of those sites.

Availability and accuracy

We take reasonable care to keep the website accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, current or always available, and we may change, suspend or remove content or features at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website, including any decision you make about inspection preparation or school improvement based on its content, and the website is provided on an as-is and as-available basis.

Any services we provide to you are governed by the terms of your separate written agreement, not by this page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed, and continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
